Minnesota Dispensary Still Unprofitable After 2 Years

Cannibis

Minnesota’s medical marijuana program has been up and running for two years. The dispensary, Leafline Labs, reports that it still hasn’t made a profit. With neighboring Iowa’s medical marijuana to take effect in a few days, some are skeptical regarding profitability for Iowa businesses.

Iowa’s medical marijuana program is more restrictive than Minnesota’s, according to Iowa Public Radio. Dr. Andrew Bachman of Leafline Labs says that Minnesota’s program is a more “sustainable business climate”. Iowa’s medical marijuana law restricts THC percentages whereas Minnesota’s doesn’t.

Dr. Bachman said, “Not only does Minnesota have almost twice the size of population, we also do not have limitations in what we can create as medicine here in Minnesota. So it ends up being a much broader program in that regard.”
