Minnesota Indian Reservation Legalizes Medical Marijuana Flowers

Cannabis News

The members of the Red Lake Nation have approved a referendum to allow the regulation, distribution and production of medical marijuana. It’s the first entity in Minnesota to approve medical marijuana in a smokable form. It passed with 80.5% of the residents’ approval.

There were 1,765 votes for the referendum and only 425 opposed to it, according to The Duluth News Tribune. For now, this will be the only area in Minnesota where medical marijuana flower will be available. The rest of the state will continue to offer only tinctures, capsules and topicals.

Kevin Jones Jr said, “I want to (congratulate) Red Lake Nation on the voting on medical cannabis, we have passed today. It was a big, big turnout. We did it, we passed it. You guys all made history.”

It will take a little bit of time before flower is ready for patients.
