Trump Just Launched a Secret War Against Marijuana

Trump

Fourteen governmental entities have been summoned into a committee by the White House to refute the general public’s support of marijuana. The goal of this committee is to show legalization in a negative light, as a “national threat.”

The White House has named the committee the Marijuana Policy Coordination Committee, according to Buzzfeed. In memos and emails, fourteen agencies and the DEA have been instructed to provide “data demonstrating the most significant negative trends” surrounding marijuana.

A meeting summary stated: “The prevailing marijuana narrative in the U.S. is partial, one-sided, and inaccurate. Departments should provide…the most significant data demonstrating negative trends, with a statement describing the implications of such trends.”

The “staff believe that if the administration is to turn the tide on increasing marijuana use there is an urgent need to message the facts about the negative impacts of marijuana use, production, and trafficking on national health, safety, and security,” the summary further stated.

The committees proposed actions are completely against what President Trump has previously voiced regarding allowing state’s rights on marijuana law reform.

None of the entities in the committee have been instructed to show the positive impacts from marijuana legalization (which there are numerous).

Lindsay Walters, the Deputy White House Press Secretary, said, “The Trump Administration’s policy coordination process is an internal, deliberative process to craft the President’s policies on a number of important issues facing the American people, and ensure consistency with the President’s agenda.”
