A ratification agreement was reached with Local 1189 medical marijuana workers and Minnesota Medical Solutions. Annual wage increases for employees, including progression increases were approved. Also discussed were pay increases for lead positions and premiums for those training new employees.

Expansions to the wage scale were also an important factor, according to KSTP News 5.  Part of the agreement also requires MinnMed to pay the cost of health insurance for employees throughout 2017. In 2018, however, employees will be required to contribute $5 weekly to the union’s health and welfare plan.

Local 1189 president Jennifer Christiansen said, “It is a fair settlement that will ensure the company is able to recruit and retain exceptional workers. This is important not just for our members, but for the medical cannabis patients in Minnesota.”
